Setting young careers in motion at Maritime Career Day

Maritime Career Day brought vibrant energy to Frederikshavn yesterday as 565 students from 9th and 10th grade explored the maritime world together with more than 20 local companies, including Orskov Yard.

Hosted by Maritime Network Frederikshavn, this day is created to address a growing need: developing the next generation of skilled professionals for an industry that is vital to our region. Through company visits, training activities, and close contact with industry role models, the young students were introduced to the many educational, job, and career opportunities around Frederikshavn Harbor.

By giving young people a closer look at our shipyard, we aim to show how vocational education can open doors to a dynamic and meaningful future and that the maritime industry is not only part of our history, but also part of their future ?

At Orskov Yard, we see the value of this early exposure. Many of the young people who apply to join us as apprentices mention that their first meeting with us was at a previous Maritime Career Day. That shows the difference an initiative like this can make.

Initiatives like this help secure the next generation of maritime talent and keep Northern Jutland’s strong maritime tradition thriving.

Thank you to everyone involved in making this a memorable day for our next generation of bright maritime minds ?
