A long journey for the right result: Canada to Frederikshavn

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming the Canadian fishing vessel Sivulliq from Baffin Fisheries to Orskov Yard. The decision to travel more than 3,000 nautical miles reflects a clear priority: when predictability and reliable execution matter, distance becomes secondary.

After its Atlantic crossing, the vessel stayed for a full 25-year class renewal, a major engine overhaul, propeller refurbishment, and several other maintenance tasks.

For vessels operating far from European supply chains, location matters. With many components and systems originating from Scandinavia, carrying out refits here provides direct access to equipment, expertise, and trusted suppliers, all within close reach.

Despite the distance, the choice is deliberate. Efficiency, availability, and coordination often outweigh the added transit time.

The project finished smoothly and on time, thanks to strong teamwork between the crew, our partners, and everyone at Orskov Yard. Working together with a shared goal truly made a difference.
