46 years of commitment, craftsmanship, and leadership: Thank you for the journey, Ole

Today, we’re celebrating one of the true cornerstones of Orskov Yard. After an incredible 46 years of service, our Head of Project Department, Ole Gammelgaard, is now retiring.

”On behalf of the company and the Ørskov family, I want to express our heartfelt gratitude to Ole for his many years of unwavering commitment. His dedication, loyalty, and expertise have been greatly appreciated — and will be truly missed,” said director and owner Christina Ørskov.

Ole began his career at the former Ørskov Christensen Stålskibsværft as an apprentice in 1979 and has since held various positions across the yard, before joining the company management team 13 years ago.

In his role as Head of Project Department, Ole has carried the overall responsibility for ensuring that Orskov Yard’s many maintenance, repair, and conversion projects are delivered on time, to the highest standards, and to the satisfaction of our customers.

“With his many years in the company, Ole has gained an unmatched understanding of both the yard and the industry — and he leaves big shoes to fill. However, we’ve known about Ole’s decision for quite some time and have had the opportunity to prepare for the changes his retirement will bring. We have also appointed his successor, whom we look forward to introducing soon,” said CEO Lars Fischer.

Although Ole is now retiring, life ahead looks anything but quiet. His plans include golf, travel, and, most importantly, spending lots of quality time with his partner and grandchildren.

“I’ll definitely miss my colleagues, no doubt. We’ve shared so many great years. I’ve loved every second of my time at Orskov Yard. It’s a fantastic workplace with strong family values that genuinely cares for its people,” said Ole.
